Rob Bolin, born in the Detroit area, raised in Traverse City, Michigan. Ever since I can remember I have been a fan of folk music. Growing up with the sounds of: Harry Chapin, Jim Croce, Cat Stevens, Nick Drake, Allison Krauss and Union Station, and actually, far out of the folk scene, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder. So basically I've been surrounded by great music all my life. Along came my 14th Birthday the day I received my first guitar. I could not put it down, and soon after watching my brother Steve play, I taught myself to play. When I was about 15 years old I started to try my hand at vocals. I was absolutely terrible but just kept pluggin away at it, and when summer-time came I was street-singing in down town Traverse City. Anyway, High school continued and I started getting gigs singing in the school's cafeteria, and at local resturants. It was at this time that it dawned on me. "Maybe I could make a living doing what I love doing." So I moved to Chicago after one year of college to try out my luck in the big city, and it worked out fairly well, I played in the first annual Acoustic Heroes Festival, the 9th annual Jeff Buckley Tribute show, appearing on Chicago radio station Q101, and other great achievements in my young career. "I love music and always will put it out there for people to listen to". I auditioned for CMT's "Can You Duet?" in support of my duo partner, Chelsee Oaks, who is also native of Traverse City, Michigan. And this ladies and gentlemen concludes the "About me" section. Thank you all for Listening, and supporting me in my journey! Peace and Love Brothers and Sisters. You're friend, -Rob Bolin-
